What types of used BMW iX1 cars are there?

A used BMW iX1 is available in three different trims to keep it nice and straightforward when choosing one that fits your needs. 

Popular BMW iX1 trims 

> BMW iX1 Sport – the base model gets one motor (and less power) but still gets decent standard features such as a reversing camera 

> BMW iX1 xLine – adding slightly larger wheels and fancier trims, the xLine is the pick for most people 

> BMW iX1 M Sport – with a sportier, more aggressive look, the M Sport is the top dog 

BMW iX1 history 

The iX1 has only been out since 2021 and therefore is still a fairly new product, but two generations still exist.

What features does the BMW iX1 have?

Being at the top of its game, the BMW iX1 isn’t short of a feature or two.

Even in its most basic form, it comes with features such as two large displays – a central 10.25-inch digital gauge cluster and a larger 10.7-inch central screen.  

You also get Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, as well as a superb standard sound system that can be upgraded to a Harman/Kardon for added bass. 

If you buy a brand-new iX1, you’ll need to tick the options boxes nonstop for extras such as wireless phone charging and keyless entry, but a lot of used examples already have that, which is handy. 

Is the BMW iX1 reliable?

Because it’s a newer electric model, the iX1 is a reliable car. Its high-quality build and dependable electric motor make it one of the more reliable cars on our roads. 

The X1 on which it’s based also shares its platform with the Mini Countryman, which is another tick in the reliability column.  

It’s safe, too. It scored a full five stars in its recent 2022 Euro NCAP safety test. 

How much does the BMW iX1 cost to run?

Since a used BMW iX1 is an electric car, it should be nice and cheap to run.  

This is thanks to its clever onboard battery and motors which return up to 293 miles of range, making them as efficient as four miles per kWh – that’s getting into Tesla territory. 

Charging costs will vary between around 8p/kWh at home and 80p/kWh at a public fast charger.   

If you don’t mind spending extra on charging, the iX1 can charge up to 130kWs which means 10-80% charge in 29 minutes. Ideal if you need to save some time. 

Who is the BMW iX1 suitable for?

A used BMW iX1 is the perfect car for someone new to electric vehicles or someone very familiar with the BMW brand. 

This is because it has all the quality of an X1 but with the silence and sophistication of an EV. 

Even if you don’t fit into the criteria above, it’s worth considering an iX1 if you’re also looking at a Tesla Model Y or Mercedes EQB. 

Should I buy a used BMW iX1?

How much is the BMW iX1?

A brand-new BMW iX1 can cost upwards of £70,000. Go for a used iX1 and you can expect to pay around £40,000 instead. 

Is the iX1 bigger than the X1?

They’re both the same length and width but the iX1 is 26mm shorter. 

What is the range of the BMW iX1?

BMW claims the iX1 will get up to 293 miles on a single charge. 

Is iX1 or iX3 bigger?

The iX3 is the larger car, being based on the X3, whereas the iX1 shares its size with the X1. 

Is the BMW iX1 a family car?

Absolutely. With a 490-litre boot and a spacious cabin, why wouldn’t a family consider one?
