Ever since its initial launch in 1957, the 500 has been available with a soft-top convertible roof. Since it was originally designed for Italy, the extravagant sunroof meant it was perfect for those summer evenings. 

Nowadays, it’s still good for that but also gives an extra sense of ‘fanciness’ when cruising around, no matter where you live.

What features does the Fiat 500C have?

Being a small supermini, don’t expect Range Rover-like tech and features inside, but instead a whole range of the basics done well. 

By this we mean things such as air-con, a seven-inch infotainment system, Bluetooth connectivity, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto in newer models, cruise control and start/stop technology. 

It’s far from as basic as quadricycles like the Citroen Ami, but instead appeals to the average city driver or new driver, thanks to its tight proportions and easy manoeuvrability. 

Is the Fiat 500C reliable?

A used Fiat 500C is a dependable car when looked after correctly, like with all vehicles. 

Older Fiats were never known for their reliability, but modern post-2007 cars are far better. Now Fiat’s owned by Stellantis, it should be far superior to that classic model. 

All new Fiats come with a rather standard three-year/60,000-mile warranty which is passed onto subsequent owners, making nearly new used examples even more appealing. 

How much does the Fiat 500C cost to run?

Used Fiat 500C cars have a few different engine options.  

These include a 68hp 1.2-litre petrol, a 0.9-litre TwinAir (available with 85 or 105hp) and a 95hp 1.3-litre MultiJet unit. 

It's worth noting that all these engines are Euro 6 emissions compliant, and if you want to take things a step further, why not get the fully electric 500e version? 

These engines are very frugal and therefore shouldn’t cost much to run. Fiat claims you’ll get around 60mpg, and we don’t doubt it. 

Who is the Fiat 500C suitable for?

The beauty of a used Fiat 500C is that it can suit anyone and everyone – it’s a truly classless car. 

It suits new drivers, well-established drivers, city dwellers and country bumpkins. No matter who you are, a 500C can probably slot into your life with relative ease.

The main and only difference between these two cars is that the 500C has a retractable soft top, whereas the 500 is the standard car. 

What does the ‘C’ in Fiat 500C stand for?

The ‘C’ stands for ‘cabrio’ which is short for ‘cabriolet’, which stems from horse-drawn carriages that would have a foldable roof. 

How much is a Fiat 500C?

Brand-new, you can expect to pay upwards of £18,000, but get a used one and you could pay anywhere from £10,000 to £15,000 – depending on year and spec. 

Does the Fiat 500C have a sat-nav?

All 500C models sold after the 2015 facelift come with a seven-inch display, but not all come with a built-in sat-nav. You’d need to check the spec list of your specific car to find out. 

Can you get an electric Fiat 500C?

Yes. It’s called the Fiat 500e Convertible and it’s the same concept as the 500C but with an electric motor instead of an engine.
