Start nowST, or ‘Sports Technologies’, is the name given to Ford’s pacey hot hatches – they’re known for having agile handling and an engaging drive, but they can be a little pricey to run.
Step in the Ford Fiesta ST-Line Edition, which takes the sporty styling cues of the Fiesta ST and puts them in a package more attractive for a daily driver.
ST-Line Edition is a high-spec model, similar to Titanium, with a lot of standard equipment, so a used Ford Fiesta ST-Line Edition ticks all the right boxes.
– Read our Ford Fiesta review
The most popular engine in the Ford Fiesta ST-Line Edition, or any Fiesta for that matter, is the 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol. The most basic version has a 95hp output, but it has plenty of get-up-and-go.
For a bit more poke, look at the 125hp or 155hp models that use mild hybrid tech for better fuel economy.
Long-distance drivers will value the high fuel economy potential of the 1.5-litre diesel, but its 85hp doesn’t quite align with the sporty looks.
Many of the Fiesta ST-Line Edition’s upgrades are sporty, such as the head-turning 17-inch alloys and aggressive bumper designs, and the flat-bottomed steering wheel and black headlining inside.
Equipment-wise, a Fiesta ST-Line comes with rear parking sensors, cruise control, push-button start and interior ambient lighting accents.
This trim level, and most others, also gets a slick eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system that works with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
When Ford was selling this trim level, the entry-level Fiesta was the Trend, which came with essentials like air-con, the eight-inch touchscreen and even a handy heated windscreen.
From there, there were three options – Titanium, Active Edition and ST-Line Edition. There are also higher-spec Titanium X, Active X Edition and ST-Line X Edition cars with a few added luxuries.
A top-spec Vignale Edition model came with all the bells and whistles, together with the ST-2, ST-3 and ST Performance Edition hot hatches.
Ford hasn’t published how many ST-Line Edition models it has sold, but the trim level was short-lived. It’s very similar to the ST-Line trim level, so there’s no shortage.
In reality, both models sit in the same position in Ford’s trim level system. ST-Line and ST-Line Edition models come with the same equipment, but this can vary depending on model year.
The Ford Fiesta ST-Line Edition is limited by the engine you pick – the 100hp model can do 112mph, the 125hp model can do 124mph and the 155hp model can do 136mph.
ST-Line Edition is a trim level option available across a handful of Ford models, including the Fiesta. It’s a mid-spec model with plenty of equipment and a sporty style inspired by the Fiesta ST.
