History of Jeep

Jeep’s history begins in 1940s America, where it began as Willys-Overland Motors that made ‘jeeps’ for the US army. 

It later released the ‘Wagoneer’, which is said to be the first SUV ever made, with four-wheel drive and a high driving position. 

In 1987 it was bought by Chrysler, which is now owned by the multi-national corporation Stellantis,  which also owns brands including Citroen, Peugeot and Fiat. 

As always, Jeep still makes 4x4s and SUVs, and even a pickup truck called the Gladiator in America.
