All ID.5 models also come with the bigger 77kWh battery promising a range of just over 300 miles.

You can’t get this ID.4’s smaller 52kWh battery in this sporty model, which is good news, because its real-world range is much closer to 150 miles.

Early reports highlight the Volkswagen ID.5’s dependable performance, minimal maintenance needs, and strong warranty support.

As an electric model, it has fewer moving parts than a petrol car, so there’s less to go wrong. Add to that the fact that it uses tried-and-tested VW parts from other ID models and it can only be good news.

Because of its aerodynamic shape, Volkswagen reckons the ID.5 can travel slightly further between charges than the ID.4, though it won’t be a massive step up in real-world conditions.
